Escalation steps: take action automatically at a point total
Warnings add warning points. At a point total you define, yurna automatically applies a timeout, kick or ban.
Every warning gives the member warning points (1 by default). With escalation steps you decide what happens automatically at a certain point total – for example “1 hour timeout from 3 points”. That way your team reacts consistently without counting every time.
Escalation is off by default. Warning points are always counted, though.
How warning points count#
- Active warning points are all points from warnings that are neither revoked nor expired.
- Points expire after a configurable number of days (default 90, 0 = never). The warning stays in the case files but no longer counts.
- A revoked case no longer counts – and neither do its points.
You give points with /warn add (option points, 0–20), when creating a case in the dashboard (0–100) or with the Warn button on a report (1 point). A warning with 0 points stays on record but doesn’t count towards escalation.
How to set it up#
- Open Dashboard → Moderation → Case files → Settings tab.
- Under Punishments & points, set after how many days points expire.
- In the Escalation steps section, click Use template or Add step.
- For each step set: From points, Action and, where needed, Duration.
- Turn on Escalation enabled and save.
The template has three steps: 3 points → 1 hour timeout, 5 points → 1 day timeout, 8 points → 7 day temporary ban. Adjust them to your server.
Settings#
- From points – threshold from 1 to 1000. There can only be one step per threshold.
- Action – timeout, kick, temporary ban, ban or trade ban.
- Duration – at most 28 days for a timeout, at most one year for a temporary ban. For a trade ban an empty field means “permanent”. Kicks and bans have no duration.
How the steps apply#
- A step applies when a new warning crosses its threshold: the member was below it before and has now reached it.
- If one warning crosses several thresholds at once, only the highest of them applies.
- Escalation is not retroactive. Anyone who already has enough points when you turn it on is only caught at their next warning.
- The automatic action becomes a case of its own with the source Escalation. The reason names the threshold and the number of the triggering warning. The member gets a DM as usual if “DM on punishment” is on.
- A case created by an escalation step carries no points itself, so it never triggers another step.
Premium#
How many steps are active depends on your plan:
| New Moon | Half Moon | Full Moon | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Active escalation steps | 3 | 10 | 25 |
You can save more steps than your plan allows. The steps with the lowest thresholds are always the active ones; the dashboard marks all others as “Not active” and doesn’t apply them.
Tips#
- Start with a few clear steps. Three steps are enough for most servers.
- Combine points and expiry: with 90 days of expiry, someone who behaves gets a second chance automatically.
- Give serious offences more points, e.g.
/warn add points:3, so a higher step applies right away.
Warning
For timeouts, kicks and bans yurna needs the matching Discord permissions and a role above the member. Without them, the escalation case is revoked with a note.
