Verification
New members confirm themselves with a button – optionally with a captcha – and get a role for it.
With the verify system, yurna posts a message with a button in a channel of your choice. Anyone who clicks it receives the verified role. This lets you unlock the rest of your server only after a quick confirmation and slows down automated accounts.
You'll find the settings under Dashboard → Community → Verification (/dashboard/<server>/verify).
Setting it up#
- In Discord, create a role that members should receive after confirming (e.g. "Verified"). Give this role access to your regular channels.
- In the dashboard, open Community → Verification.
- Turn on Module active at the top right.
- Under Channel & roles, choose the Notification channel – that's where the verify message appears – and the Verified role.
- Optional: choose an Unverified role that is removed when someone verifies.
- Under Verify message, design the title, text, button and colour. The Embed preview shows you the result.
- Click Save in the bar at the bottom.
After saving, yurna posts the verify message in the chosen channel within about a minute. If you change something later, the same message is updated. If you turn the module off, yurna removes the message again.
Settings#
Channel & roles#
- Notification channel – the text channel for the verify message (required).
- Verified role – yurna gives this role after the click (required).
- Unverified role – optional. If the member has this role, yurna removes it on verification. yurna does not hand it out on join, though – use autorole under Join & rules for that.
The dashboard rejects roles with admin permissions (e.g. Administrator) and roles managed by an integration when you save.
Verify message#
- Embed title – up to 250 characters.
- Embed description – up to 2048 characters, Discord markdown supported.
- Button label – 1 to 80 characters.
- Embed color – via the colour picker or as a HEX value (e.g.
#5865F2).
Note
The verify message is the same for everyone, so yurna only replaces {guild} with the server name. {user} stays as plain text – it's best to remove it from the title if your template still contains it.
Options#
- Force channel leave – after verification, yurna hides the verify channel for that member, which keeps the channel tidy. On by default.
- Captcha required – before the role is given, a window opens with a six-character code the member has to type in. The code is valid for five minutes.
Required permissions#
- View Channel, Send Messages and Embed Links in the notification channel – otherwise yurna can't post the message.
- Manage Roles, and yurna's role must be above the verified and unverified roles in the role list.
- For Force channel leave, yurna must be allowed to edit the verify channel's permissions.
Tips#
- Deny
@everyoneaccess to every channel except the verify channel and unlock channels through the verified role. That way, new members only see the verify message at first. - Use verification or rule acceptance under Join & rules. Running both with the same role doubles the work – the dashboard will point this out.
- Don't also hand out the verified role via autorole, or verification is bypassed.
Common problems#
- The message doesn't appear. Check the channel permissions and make sure both the channel and the verified role are set. Without both, yurna posts nothing.
- "I couldn't give you the verification role". Usually yurna is missing Manage Roles or its role sits too low. Drag it above the verified role in your server settings.
- "Your captcha has expired". Just click the button again to get a new code.
