Suggestions

A channel for your community's ideas – with voting, a thread per suggestion and a response from the team.

SetupMessages

Suggestions give your community a channel for ideas. Every message there becomes a numbered suggestion with 👍/👎 voting and its own discussion thread. Your team sets the status – such as "Accepted" or "Implemented" – and can add a response.

You set it up under Dashboard → Engagement → Suggestions (/dashboard/<server>/vorschlaege).

Note

Not the same as /suggestion: that command sends feedback to the yurna team. This feature is about suggestions for your own server.

Setting it up#

  1. Create a text channel in Discord, for example #suggestions.
  2. Give yurna these permissions there: Send Messages, Embed Links, Manage Messages and Create Public Threads.
  3. Open Dashboard → Engagement → Suggestions, pick the channel under Suggestion channel and click Set up suggestions.

How a suggestion works#

  1. A member simply writes their idea in the channel (at least 5, at most 2,000 characters; one image up to 8 MB is carried over).
  2. yurna turns it into "Suggestion #N" with 👍/👎 buttons and a thread. The original message is removed to keep the channel tidy.
  3. Members vote with the buttons. Clicking the same button again withdraws the vote.
  4. The team sets the status – via the Team button on the suggestion or in the dashboard. The embed's color and status update along.

Each member can submit one suggestion every 30 seconds.

Statuses#

Voting is only possible while a suggestion is Open or Under review.

In the dashboard#

  • Key figures: open (and how many are under review), accepted, implemented and declined suggestions.
  • All suggestions, newest first, with votes and status; filterable by status.
  • Set status: pick a new status, optionally write a response to the community (up to 1,000 characters) and use Post in the thread to have the new status and response posted in the thread.
  • Open in Discord jumps straight to the suggestion.

Troubleshooting#

  • No thread is created. – yurna is missing "Create Public Threads" in the channel.
  • The original message stays. – yurna is missing "Manage Messages".
  • "Please describe your suggestion in at least 5 characters." – The message was too short.
