AI access: connect your server to an AI app

Connect an MCP-capable AI app to your server – with its own key, read-only or with permission to change things.

SetupDashboardSecurityAutomation

With AI access you connect an AI app that supports MCP (Model Context Protocol) to your Discord server. The AI can then, for example, check your server or – if you allow it – change settings. AI access itself costs nothing on any plan; the cost and availability of your AI app depend on its provider.

In the dashboard#

  1. Open Dashboard → Content & automations → AI access (/dashboard/<server>/ki-zugang).
  2. Under Keys, enter a Name (e.g. the app that will use it) and pick the Permissions: Read only or Read + change. It's best to start with “Read only”.
  3. Click Create key. The key is visible only now – copy it and keep it like a password.
  4. Under Set up and test access, click Test Yurna access. The test only reads the server overview and changes nothing. It checks yurna, not your app's connection.
  5. Under How to connect your AI app, pick your app and follow the steps.

AI access is set up on the web only; there's no slash command for it.

Why web only? A key works like a password and is shown only once – in a chat it could be read by others or shared by accident.

Two addresses#

  • Address with built-in key – for apps where you can only enter an address. This address is itself the password.
  • Address for apps with a custom header – for developer apps: enter the address and send the key as the header “Authorization: Bearer …”.

What the AI may do#

  • Every key only works for this server.
  • A key acts with the current Discord permissions of the person who created it. If they lose those permissions, the key stops working.
  • A key with change permission doesn't replace missing Discord permissions or the requirements of individual modules.
  • yurna records changes made through AI access in the server log.

Warning

Create a separate key for every app. If a key might have fallen into the wrong hands, click Revoke right away.

By command#

There's deliberately no slash command for setting it up (see above). In Discord, /yurna dashboard gives you the link to the dashboard – open AI access there.

Common questions#

I can't see my key any more – what now?#

Keys are only shown when they're created. Create a new one and revoke the old one.

The test says the key is invalid?#

The key was revoked or copied incorrectly. Create a new one and enter it in your app.

Does this work with every AI app?#

Your app has to support MCP over “Streamable HTTP”. Custom connectors aren't available on every provider plan. Apps that can only start local programs also need a bridge such as “mcp-remote”.

Can the AI do everything on my server?#

No. It only sees approved tools and server data and can never do more than the person who created the key. With “Read only” it changes nothing.

How many keys can I create?#

The page shows how many keys are possible at the same time. If every slot is taken, revoke an unused one.
