Join the hangout. Step 1 of 3

The Hangout bundles small community modules on one page. Each module has its own tab and its own switch, so you can use just one of them if you like.

You'll find the page under Dashboard → Engagement → Hangout (/dashboard/<server>/treffpunkt). The tabs are Birthdays, Counting, Sticky messages, Confessions, Modmail and Wrapped. A green dot on a tab means the module is running. The Wrapped tab is explained in Server Wrapped & votes.

How to set it up#

  1. Open Engagement → Hangout and pick the module's tab.
  2. Turn the module on with the switch at the top right.
  3. Choose the right channel (for modmail: a text channel for the team only).
  4. Adjust the other settings and click Save.
  5. Try the module right away in Discord, for example with /birthday set or a number in the counting channel.

Birthdays#

Members add their birthday with /birthday set. On the day itself, yurna congratulates them in the Birthday channel and can assign a Birthday role, which is removed automatically the next day.

  • Time and Time zone: yurna congratulates from this hour on (default 9:00, Europe/Berlin). yurna checks every 10 minutes.
  • Custom message: up to 1500 characters. Placeholders: {nutzer} (mention), {name} (display name), {alter} (age), {alterText} (e.g. “You turn 20 today!”), {server}. Empty = friendly default text.
  • Members born on 29 February are congratulated on 28 February in non-leap years.
  • The birth year is optional – without it, the age is simply left out.
CommandWhat it does
/birthday set <day> <month> [year]Adds your birthday (day, month, optional year)
/birthday show [user]Shows your birthday or a member's
/birthday removeDeletes your entry
/birthday listThe next 10 birthdays on the server

Counting#

Everyone counts up together: 1, 2, 3 … A correct number gets ✅, a new record 🏆 and every full hundred 🎉. On a mistake yurna reacts with ❌ and briefly explains which number would have been right.

  • Reset to 0 on mistakes: off = the wrong number is only marked, counting continues.
  • Take turns: nobody may count twice in a row.
  • Allow math: “2+3” or “(10-4)*2” counts too.
  • Only the first word of a message counts (“42 yay” is 42). yurna deletes messages without a number to keep the channel clean.
  • The tab shows Current number, Record and Mistakes so far. Start over resets counting to 0.

Sticky messages#

A sticky message always stays at the bottom of the channel: after new messages, yurna deletes the old sticky and posts it again at the very bottom. There is one sticky per channel.

  • In the dashboard you design text and embeds like announcements, with the placeholders {server} and {mitglieder} (member count). Save and post puts it into the channel right away.
  • Repost after … messages: 1 to 50. With 1, yurna reposts after every message, but during a burst of messages at most every few seconds.
  • /sticky set <text> [after] sets or changes the sticky in the current channel (plain text, up to 1800 characters). /sticky remove removes it. Both commands are available by default to members with "Manage Messages".

Anonymous confessions#

/confess opens a form. The confession is posted without a name as “Anonymous confession #N” in the Confession channel.

  • Cooldown (minutes): at most one confession per member in this time (default 10, 0 = off, up to 1440).
  • Reply threads: a thread for replies is created under each confession.
  • Review before posting: confessions go to the Review channel first, with Approve and Reject buttons. Anyone with "Manage Messages" can decide. Make the review channel visible to the team only.
  • Show author to mods: the review channel then shows who wrote the confession. Off = fully anonymous, even for mods.
  • A confession must be 5 to 1800 characters long. The Recent confessions list in the dashboard never shows an author.

Modmail#

Members send yurna a direct message. yurna asks which server it should go to (or to yurna support). Each case gets a private thread in your server's modmail channel.

  • Everything your team writes in the thread goes back to the member as a DM. yurna confirms with 📨.
  • Messages starting with // stay internal notes and are not forwarded.
  • Close case ends the conversation – in the thread or in the DM. The other side is notified and the thread is locked.
  • /modmail opens a form for a new case directly on the server.
  • Mention on new cases: these roles are mentioned in the new thread. Greeting: the first reply to the member (up to 1000 characters, empty = default text).
  • Reply anonymously: replies appear as “<Server> team” instead of with names (Half Moon and up).
  • Each member can only have one open case at a time.

Premium#

Premium

All Hangout modules are free. Depending on the plan, only two things change: the number of sticky messages per server (New Moon 2, Half Moon 10, Full Moon 50) and anonymous modmail replies (from Half Moon).

Common problems#

  • /birthday, /confess or /modmail says it isn't turned on. Turn the module on in the Hangout and choose a channel.
  • Messages in the counting channel aren't deleted. yurna needs the Manage Messages permission there.
  • The birthday role isn't assigned. yurna needs Manage Roles, and yurna's role must be above the birthday role.
  • “Your plan doesn’t allow more sticky messages”. You've reached your plan's limit – remove a sticky or switch plans.
  • Replies in the modmail thread get ⚠️. The member doesn't accept DMs or has blocked yurna.
  • yurna doesn't ask for my server in DMs. Modmail must be turned on for that server, and you must be a member there.
